I think we'll see a couple of rainy days during this forecast period, but no real cold weather is coming. Temperatures will remain above average through the rest of the work week despite a cool front sliding across the state Wednesday into Thursday.
Our Microcast computer model is indicating a chance for a few showers west of I-65 early Wednesday in Marion, Lamar, Winston, and Pickens County. The rain will become more widespread during the afternoon. Instability will remain low with this system so thunderstorms are unlikely.
Weekend Forecast: Another stronger system will impact the region late Friday into the weekend. Models differ on the timing and strength of this system. At this point - instability looks to be marginal with this system. I do think we will experience widespread rain and at least a few stronger thunderstorms. Notice - I said stronger and not severe. This means some gusty winds, heavy rain, and lightning. We should see this front clear by Sunday ushering in some slightly cooler air - but nothing dramatic. Temperatures Sunday and Monday will still be in the upper 50s.
