We can rest easy tonight. The severe weather threat is over. We had some intense storms across the area with damage reports in Lamar County. Expect cloudy skies tonight with overnight lows around 62.
We will probably see some sunshine Thursday with highs in the mid 70s. It's possible we could see some additional thunderstorms. Temperatures toward the evening will fall into the lower 60s again.
A warm front is expected to lift to the north on Friday. We will likely see temperatures climb into the upper 70s and possibly lower 80s. A deepening area of low pressure will track to the north of Alabama. Depending on the track of the low will greatly influence our severe weather chances. There is no doubt we will have the instability needed for strong to perhaps severe thunderstorms Friday night into Saturday morning. This is a system that could produce a significant tornado threat. At this point - it appears the more severe threat will be to the north across the Tennessee Valley. There are a lot of variables between now and Friday evening - please stay weather aware.
We'll keep you updated.
