We’re continuing to monitor a slight risk for severe weather that includes much of our area. Despite lots of clouds in our area, some sunshine is creating rapid destabilization back over Louisiana. We expect a line of thunderstorms develop in this region along a cold front. This line of storms will march eastward and impact our northwest communities during the 4-7 PM time frame.
Damaging straight-line winds will be the main threat for our area, but it’s important to note that some severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center is highlighting a 2% to 10% probability of a tornado within 25 miles of a location within the slight risk zone. The SPC is also noting that a watch will likely be issued before 3 PM and this will include portions of Mississippi and Alabama. Stay tuned!
