Other than the southerly wind, this first day of spring is picture-perfect! The same cannot be said for folks back over Louisiana and Texas. A tornado watch has been posted for a good portion of western Louisiana and east Texas through 5:00 PM. A large mass of rain and strong thunderstorms will be impacting this region today but there’s no need to worry because this will not reach Alabama tonight or tomorrow. The higher winds in Alabama are the result of the tightening pressure gradient between this approaching storm system and the high pressure region over our state.
Today’s Forecast Highlights
- Partly to mostly sunny for today and tomorrow; a gusty south wind.
- The bulk of the wet weather is expected to reach Alabama on Thursday. The system should be much weaker so no major severe weather threat expected.
- Additional showers and thunderstorms possible on Friday; becoming more isolated on Saturday.
- More sunny weather for Sunday and Monday but feeling cooler; lows at night near 49-degrees in some locations.
