On this date last year we were already facing a Day 2 Moderate Risk for severe weather across our area. In fact, severe weather was already impacting the nation’s midsection with tornadoes in Texas and Oklahoma. For days our weather team watched as the models continued to suggest a more volatile weather setup across Alabama on the 27th. I’ve included J-P’s forecast from the night before the historic outbreak. This was the first time we used the extreme tornado category in an actual forecast. This forecast was from our evening news on April 26th, 2012.
