Earlier Dr. Tim Coleman added a great post about an approaching upper level disturbance and how this would bring our next best chance of rain. Check out the included radar image from VIPIR. This imagery shows not only rain but widespread lightning associated with thunderstorms over Mississippi. The greatest concentration of rain should remain to our south and west, in association with the upper level disturbance. However, showers and thunderstorms will be possible in our area this afternoon and evening.
Right Now: We are detecting some scattered thunderstorm and shower activity over West Alabama and the latest futurescan data suggests a slow southeast to northwest motion. We are also keeping an eye on the band of rain and storms approaching Montgomery. This activity could impact the southern portions of our area later this afternoon and evening.
