High pressure is setting up across Alabama today, setting the stage for a hot, sunny, dry weekend across Alabama.
Skies were clear Thursday afternoon across Alabama, allowing temperatures to soar into the lower 90s. That trend will repeat itself through Sunday, especially across the northern half of Alabama. All of us here in north central Alabama will see highs in the lower 90s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, under mostly sunny skies.
The story is different to our south. An area of low pressure current in south Florida could develop into a tropical depression or storm by the weekend. The rain and thunderstorms associated with the low are projected by the FOX6 LIVE VIPIR to move briefly out into the Atlantic before returning to south Georgia and the Florida Panhandle on Sunday. Rain and thunderstorms from this system could impact the Gulf Coast beaches in Florida and Alabama by Sunday night.
Rain chances along the coast and south Alabama will increase Monday as the rain and thunderstorms spread northward. Rain from this system could show up in north central Alabama late Monday and linger in our area through most of the week.
