Fox 6 Engineeer Kim Mitchell took these pictures today from our studios on Red Mountain. The entire transit takes seven hours. If you missed tonight, it will be December 2117 before Venus moves across the face of the sun. He took these pictures using a Celestron C4.5 reflecting telescope at f/7.9 The camera used was a Pentax K-r DSLR using the prime focus method. A special filter was also used to block the harmful portion of sun light and allowing the non harmful spectrum to be viewed.
