An emergency flash flood situation continues at this noon hour for locations in Mobile County. It has been a Saturday Soaker for coastal areas and more heavy rain is expected. Here at home, scattered showers developed over Hale and Greene Counties earlier and this activity has now lifted into Pickens County, impacting places like Aliceville, Reform, and Carrollton. I’ve included our weathercam view from the Pickens County courthouse and it shows a very damp scene over that part of the state. The heavier rain is expected to increase in coverage from south to north throughout the rest of the afternoon. Below you will see the latest forecast 1-3 day rain total graphic from HPC (Hydrometeorological Prediction Center). The latest product suggests that some of the highest rain totals in our area will be over eastern sections.
