This is a tricky forecast, but I think we have a good handle on what we can expect tonight. Storms will arrive in our western counties sometime before midnight. If you live in Lamar, Pickens, Sumter, Hale, or Greene Counties you could be impacted. The main cluster of storms I'm watching is sliding northwest to southeast from Arkansas. The convective complex is not quite as robust as the ones from previous nights, but it will likely bring heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds to much of the state.
Models are also suggesting another complex of storms may move slide southward from Tennessee tonight. Our atmosphere is pretty juicy with CAPE levels between 1,500-2,000 j/kg.
A second complex of storms is sliding southward out of Tennessee and will most likely affect our area after 2am. These storms again could produce heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds. Areas North of I-20 are likely to be affected by this secondary round of rain and storms.
The rain and storms should come to an end by by 8am and shift mainly to our south for the rest of the day. Expect clearing skies and mild temperatures by the afternoon. The longer range forecast looks dry and mild for the rest of the weekend. Warmer temperatures are on tap for the weekend.
