The storms seem to have weakened a little. But they packed a punch in BHM metro. We are getting reports of trees and powerlines down all over the place. Winds varied a lot in the metro area, with the airport only getting 32 knots (37 mph), but some locations getting over 60 mph. Here at my house in Trussville, power is on, but I smelled pine in the air.
Power is out to 128,000 Alabama Power customers, and trees and power lines are down on some roads. Don't drive tonight if you don't have to. There has also been a report of a power line on a home in Center Point/Sun Valley area.
