Things have changed a lot in the past week. We now have flow off the Gulf of Mexico bringing plenty of moisture into Alabama. There is a cold front to our north that won't make it here and will likely become diffuse this week, but there is also a mid-level low pressure area from Texas and Louisiana northeast into MS that will move little through the next 2 days. This will bring more moisture into Alabama.
A large area of strong storms is over south Alabama now, moving in our general direction. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing storms in the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham areas late this afternoon and this evening, with more storms likely tomorrow.
By the way, see Wes Wyatt's post below for pictures of a waterspout near Fairhope this morning, and an incredibly close rainbow at Orange Beach.
