We'll make it through much of Sunday with scattered clouds and only the occasional shower or thunderstorm. The good news is our severe thunderstorm potential remains very low. Thunderstorms will have the ability to produce some very heavy rain especially later today and into this evening. The best chance of rain will remain south of I-20.
We can expect highs in the lower to mid 80s this afternoon with lows in the upper 60s.
The weather pattern will remain very active through at least tomorrow with showers and storms in the 40-50% category.
After that - we'll be in for some much drier weather, the return of sunshine, and lower relative humidity. Temperatures this week will be in the mid to upper 80s with morning lows in the 60s.
Moisture will return late week and this will give us the chance of more showers and storms heading into the weekend.
In the tropics - Helene and Gordon are no threat to the US. We are watching an intensifying wave about 650 miles West of the Cape Verde Islands that will likely become Tropical Storm Isaac sometime over the next couple of days.
Have a great Sunday!
