Heavy rain and thunderstorms began moving into north Alabama this morning. Flash flood warnings were issued for Lamar county along with Significant Weather Advisories for several other counties.
Look for a couple of rounds of storms, or clusters of storms to come through our area out ahead of an approaching cold front today. Our storm potential includes strong to damaging winds, heavy rainfall, hail and frequent lightning.
By tonight, most of the storms should be pushing into south Alabama.
This weekend into early next week, computer forecast models differ on our chance of rainfall. Some models take the wet airmass further to our south, while other models show the rain lingering into central Alabama. Splitting the difference, I'm going with a 30-percent chance of rain for our area Saturday through Tuesday of next week...20-percent Wednesday through Friday.
Temperatures are expected to remain below normal, with highs in the 80s...lows in the 60s.
