Precipitation is increasing across central and southern Mississippi early this morning, as the upper low moves east and intensifies. It is still raining at Jackson, MS, but snow is falling in Greenwood.
Temperatures are near 40 over most of north and central Alabama, but they are in the mid 30s in eastern Mississippi and in the lower 30s west of I-55 (Jackson). As the low deepens this morning, precipitation will increase, and bring more of the cold air aloft down to the surface. No big changes since the last update otherwise. We expect 1-3" of snow over central Alabama. Once the light rain changes to snow, melting of snow and the cold snow itself will cool temperatures into the lower 30s, and some of the snow may cause some travel problems on bridges and overpasses, and on roads in higher elevations. Notice the gravity waves east of the low in Mississippi.
