TROPICAL UPDATE: So far the 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season has been quite uneventful with respect to previous years and that is certainly a good thing. We’re still keeping a very close eye on the tropics however as we are now in the peak of hurricane season. The Environmental Visualization Lab at NOAA shared this high resolution satellite image captured by GOES East. This is a tropical wave that emerged off of the African coast yesterday. It was looking like some development may try to occur but I’m happy to report that conditions have become less favorable for organization. Another tropical wave is approaching the Caribbean. This system also has a low chance of developing into a significant tropical system. We will keep you posted!
