A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6PM
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. Very low humidity and a light breeze will contribute to extreme fire behavior. Outdoor burning should be avoided.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY MAP AS OF 10:30AM SHOWS VALUES IN THE 30% RANGE GENERALLY AND VALUES AS LOW AS 25% DOWN IN DADEVILLE.
LOOK AT HOW LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES DROP THIS AFTERNOON:
Relative humidity as low as 14% combined with a north wind blowing at 5-10 mph will result in fire danger. Relative humidity indicates how moist the air is. The fancy definition is the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in an air-water mixture to the saturated vapor pressure of water at a prescribed temperature. The relative humidity of air depends on temperature and the pressure of the system of interest.
An easier way to understand relative humidity is to compare current temperatures to dew point temperatures. If the temperature is 21° for example and the dew point temperature is -4° then the relative humidity would be around 32% roughly. You can calculate the relative humidity for where you live just by going to this website and plugging in the temperature and dew point values: http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/html/dewrh.shtml
So enjoy the day, stay warm and avoid outdoor burning. Thanks!
