Next week, we'll be watching a weak area of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico that has a 20% chance of developing into a tropical depression.
The system is forecast to be nearly stationary for several days which will mean several opportunities for rain and cooler temperatures. Highs most days will average in the middle and upper 80s.
Drought is still a major issue across central and northern Alabama and so this system would bring beneficial rainfall. Flooding will be a concern though across south Alabama and Florida.
