FIRST ALERT UPDATE: There is a slight chance for showers after 7AM across west Alabama, otherwise it looks dry on Saturday morning. The main round of showers and storms are set to move in during the early afternoon hours to the west of I-65. The stormy corridor looks to impact the I-65 corridor during the early evening hours and after dark to the east of I-65.
SHOWING YOU POSSIBLE STORM ARRIVAL TIMES:
There will be a narrow zone of greatest instability and wind shear that will set up across west Alabama during the afternoon hours. Areas west of I-65 could see a strong or severe thunderstorm between 1pm-6pm. Greatest storm risk is the potential for damaging straight line winds. There will be a limited tornado threat too and lastly hail is possible but below severe criteria which is 1” in diameter.
Most storms will just be heavy rainfall and lightning producers and create wet roads and low visibility for drivers.
