A weak ridge of high pressure remains anchored over the Southeast limiting rain to only a few areas even though there were a couple of heat activated showers Saturday afternoon rain chances remain small and diminish with the loss of day time heating limiting any thunderstorm activity to areas closer to the Gulf Coast. The same weather situation is setting up for tomorrow with the possibility for an isolated shower or thunderstorm outside the areas which remain mostly sunny. Again, shower activity is not expected to linger after sunset with the loss of day time heating. Temperatures and added humidity brought on by a more southerly wind fetch off the Gulf will increase the muggy feel to the air and these conditions continue into the new work-week. The ridge of high pressure will linger through Monday, allowing us to remain mostly dry with better rain chances the farther south you go. Moisture will continue increasing in the Tuesday-Friday time frame resulting in gradually increasing chances for rain. Rain chances increase in areas to the south and east with better chances for area-wide rain Thursday and Friday. Expect near seasonal highs around 90 with overnight lows near 72.
