(VIPIR is showing another organized thunderstorm complex that will impact coastal areas today. This mesoscale convective system is tracking ESE.)
The cooler spring weather pattern will continue over the next few days. So far we’ve only had one day with above average temperatures this month. Today another cold front will be moving through our state and this will bring another fresh supply of cool-continental air. The front will help keep our skies cloudy at times today, with a slight chance for a passing shower or thunderstorm. I wouldn't cancel any big plans however, as the greatest coverage of rain should remain over southern sections of Alabama today.
Tonight the cooler and drier air will begin working into the state, with a chilly northwest wind. Today highs will be in the low 70s, with highs tomorrow struggling to reach the upper 60s. The sky will be mostly sunny tomorrow so that should help with the cooler weather. Tomorrow night however, temperatures will tumble into the 40s. There could be a few upper 30s on the board early Monday morning. The record low for Birmingham on Monday is 38 degrees from 1960.
What To Expect Next Week
A surface high will build into Alabama on Monday and this will keep our area dry through Thursday. Daytime temperatures should rebound into the lower 80s by Wednesday afternoon. As for wet weather, rain chances will return to our area on Friday. Long range models are advertising another frontal passage that could bring lingering rain chances for next Saturday. I’ll have more details in our long range forecast coming up on Fox 6 News Saturday morning beginning at 7 AM.
